About Us

My Business

I started Helping Hands Massage Therapy in February of 2000 in a small office in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania (yes, where the Groundhog lives).  I began sharing an office with Dr. Delroy Moore at his Chiropractic office, where I remain to this day.

In April of 2005 Dr. Brown of Brown Family Chiropractic opened a door allowing me to expand my practice. So I opened a second location in Indiana, Pennsylvania. Working with both doctors has improved my work as a therapist.

While many therapists change careers after about 7 years, I have found this field to be very rewarding and have had great success in seeing my clients improve their health and quality of life through the treatments that I've given.

It has been extrememly rewarding to see long-time clients recover from serious injuries, chronic pain, and just handle the day-to-day stresses better through regular massage treatment.

Techniques

My primary goal is to help people live fuller lives by alleviating pain and restoring healthy muscle function through therapeutic massage. My specialty is NMT(NeuroMuscular Therapy). I am also thoroughly trained in these therapies:

  • NMT
  • Swedish/Relaxation
  • Pregnancy
  • Infant
  • Deep Tissue
  • Triggerpoint
  • Sports
  • Myofascial

About Your Therapist

I graduated from Colorado Institute of Massage Therapy in 1999 with 1150 hours of education and have been working as a Certified Massage Therapist since that time.  While in school, I learned extensive anatomy, physiology and received training and certifications in Neuromuscular, Swedish, Trigger point, Deep tissue, Sports and Myofascial therapies.(For information on these therapies, see "services").

After school, I became Certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Body workers (NCBTMB), which is currently the highest level of certification available in the U.S.

Along with the NCBTMB, I maintain a professional membership in the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and take continuing education classes on a regular basis.

Pennsylvania does not currently offer licensing for massage therapists, so this credential is not available until a later time.

I am currently studying for certification as a Prenatal Massage Therapist as well an Infant Massage Therapist/Instructor.
